In 1975, John Gunner purchased a barber shop that had been operating in Walton-on Thames since 1931. Changing everything except the name, he transformed it into a thriving unisex salon. He then moved the business to Addlestone where it’s been for 30 years. Nowadays it’s a sizeable concern with 20 staff, 16 styling stations, 2 beauty rooms and a sunbed. Although John remains in overall charge, his son Andrew is gradually assuming more responsibility.“I deal with finances, performance, IT systems – and even a few clients.”

They signed up with Paymentsense in May 2018 “Our EPOS provider told us about Connect integrated payments, so we met with Paymentsense who beat our rates.” Connect lived up to its promise. “It completely stopped miskeyed transactions. There’s no need to re-key card payments into the till and it’s so straightforward that our receptionist has time to talk to each customer.” Balancing the till is easier too. “We used to spend up to an hour faffing with card payment discrepancies or matching up receipts. Now we do it all in half the time and go home.” Overall, Andrew is pleased with the service. “I’m very happy to recommend Paymentsense. I know how well it’s working because I don’t have to think about it too much. I can concentrate on other aspects of the business.”
